Notes
- Kjeldsberg’s review does not include a normal
differential count. Reference values for pericardial fluid
generally mimic pleural fluid at most institutions.
- Very little literature on normal differential counts. Reference
values taken from Ben-Horin, et al, and represent 99th
percentile; although this study was not conducted in the United
States, is small, and by its nature included patients with
significant coronary or valvular disease.
- A reference RBC count is not well
established in the literature. Reference values for pericardial
fluid generally mimic pleural fluid at most institutions.
