Do not use calcium alginate, cotton-tipped or wooden shaft swabs. Avoid contact with teeth, gums, tongue or cheeck surfaces and collect the specimen from the back of the throat or tonsils.

Negative result will reflex to a C Throat Beta Strep (Throat Beta Strep Culture) as long as 2 swabs were collected for testing. If only one swab sent for testing, it cannot be used for culture after testing with the rapid strep kit.
