Test Code TEG-Plt Inh TEG- Platelet Inhibition

Aliases

TEG - Platelet Mapping

Useful For

The PlateletMapping cartridge consists of a set of blood modifiers, ADP and AA platelet agonists together with ActivatorF, which when used on a heparinized blood sample can measure the levels of platelet function. This assay specifically determines the MA (Maximum Amplitude, a measure of clot strength) and the reduction in MA due to genetics, surgical procedures, and/or antiplatelet therapy and reports it as a percentage of reduction in clot strength.

Patient Preparation

Avoid tissue contaminants or interfering substances, Using a 21 gauge needle or larger, venipuncture samples - draw 1 dark green top. Line draws discard the first 10mL of blood.

Collection Method

Use of 21 gauge or larger. Full tube. Mix well by inversion.

Minimum Volume

Tube filled to 1 mL Sodium Heparin (Green non-gel)

Container

Green Sodium Heparin (non-gel) vacutainer

Preferred Specimen

Green Sodium Heparin (non-gel) vacutainer

Methodology/Method Description The TEG6s analyzer records the kinetic changes in a sample of anticoagulated whole blood as the sample clots, retracts and/or lyses in real time. The system output consists of a table of numerical values derived from a graphical representation of the hemostasis curve, which depicts clot firmness over time.
