Special Collection Instructions

Female:

1. Start with 3 sterile cleansing towelettes.
   
2. Unfold one towelette & wipe urethral area from front to back once. Discard.
   
3. Repeat with other 2 towelettes, wiping left, center, and right of urethral area.
   
4. Hold labia apart and begin to void in bedpan or toilet.
   
5. After several mLs have passed, collect midstream portion without stopping flow of urine.
   
6. Void excess urine in bedpan or toilet.

Male:

1. Thoroughly clean glans with 2-3 towelettes.
   
2. Withdraw the foreskin over glans if uncircumcised.
   
3. Cleanse glans beginning at the urethra and working away from it.
   
4. While holding foreskin retracted, begin to void in toilet or bedpan.
   
5. After several mLs have passed, collect midstream portion without stopping flow of urine.
   
6. Void excess urine in bedpan or toilet.
