Test Code D Dim Qt D Dimer Quantitative
Useful For
Plasmin is the major clot-lysing enzyme derived from inactive plasminogen. It can cleave both fibrinogen and fibrin to yield various degradation products. Lysis of cross-linked fibrin yields derivatives (XDP) that contain the cross-linked D-domain (D-dimer). A positive test is indicative of secondary fibrinolysis.
