Test Code SPEP Serum Protein Electrophoresis w/ Reflex to Immunotyping

Important Note

Total Protein is automatically added when placing an SPEP order. Immunotyping will automatically reflex if indicated by Pathologist interpretation.

Clinical Use

Accurate relative quantification of individual protein fractions and  Qualitative detection and the characterization of monoclonal proteins.

Specimen

Venously collect a Gold top, serum seperator tube (preferred).

A Red Top serum tube may also be used.

Patient Preparation

No special patient preparation required.
