Test Code TEG - Bleed TEG Bleeding

Aliases (synonyms)

TEG - Global Hemostasis with Lysis

Useful For

Evaluation of global Hemostasis:
CRT-MA represents the maximal combined platelet and fibrin clot strength.
CFF-MA measures the functional fibrinogen contribution.
Delta (CRT-MA , CFF-MA) represent the platelet contribution to clot strength.
Ly30 is increased in hyperfibrinolysis.

Patient Preparation

Avoid tissue contaminants or interfering substances, Using a 21 gauge needle or larger, venipuncuture samples - draw 2 blue tops and discard the first. Line draws discard the first 10mL of blood.

Special Collection Instructions

Unspun specimen must arrive within 1 hour of draw.

Collection Method

Use of 21 gauge or larger. Full tube. Mix well by inversion.

Minimum Volume

Tube filled to Proper 9:1 ratio

Container

Light Blue Sodium Citrate

Methodology/Method Description The TEG6s analyzer records the kinetic changes in a sample of anticoagulated whole blood as the sample clots, retracts and/or lyses in real time. The system output consists of a table of numerical values derived from a graphical representation of the hemostasis curve, which depicts clot firmness over time.
