Test Code U Myo Urine, Myoglobin
Useful For
Myoglobin facilitates the transfer or transport of oxygen from the extacellular fluid into the muscle cells. Whenever there is severe injury to striated muscle tissue, considerable quantities of myoglobin are released into the extracellular fluid, eventually enter the blood, and are then excreted by the kidneys. Myoglobinuria may occur following crush injuries to the extremities, after high voltage electric shock and occasionally after severe muscular exertion.
